We don’t ‘create’ brands, we uncover them

There are few things more frustrating for a client (and we’ve spent many years on the client side ourselves) than writing a clear, unambiguous brief and then receiving a beautifully creative response that bears no resemblance to what was requested.

But it happens all the time. Why?

We think it’s because many agencies just don’t seem to listen properly, impatient to jump straight to what they think is the creative solution (alas, too often an idea they’ve tried elsewhere, rehashed for you).

There also seems to be an assumption that a brand can be ‘created’ and then fitted to your business like a new suit.

We have the experience to know that this is nonsense.

Brands aren’t created. They already exist. Yours is already there, at the heart of your business, whether you realise it or not. Our job is to help you bring it to the surface, define it, visualise it and then build powerful communications around it.

We believe in simplicity and clarity

Why is business communication so often lifeless, solemn or hopelessly complex? It’s as if we’re all expected to turn into automatons the moment we step into the office.

But companies are staffed by flesh-and-blood people (your customers and clients!), and they don’t want to be weighed down by complexity and dead corporate language. They want to communicate with simplicity, clarity and warmth, just like they do at home.

So we give your brand a human voice, with personality and humour.

We won’t give you ‘methodologies’ or ‘mission statements’.

And the next time someone presents you with a “proven, 3-step, result-driven, vertically integrated channel strategy”, we’ve one word of advice.
